How to Bond With Your Pomeranian

Forming a bond between you and your Pomeranian takes time. You must establish a trusting relationship and learn your dog̵7;s personality quirks. When you form a bond between you and your dog, it continues to grow with every activity you do together. After you take your Pomeranian home, start building up your bond and trust in one another through everyday activities as well as special treats such as walks at the dog park. Incorporate your family members into the bonding process as well. From grooming to training, each family member can have a turn.
  1. Everyday Activities

    • The bonding process starts the minute you decide to get your Pomeranian. Your dog needs food and water every day. After awhile, your Pomeranian begins to understand that you provide for it. This helps build a trusting relationship between you and the dog. Set up a regular feeding routine in the morning. Establishing a regular routine lets the dog know that you will always care for it.

    Grooming

    • Your Pomeranian needs grooming every day. Make a routine and a bonding experience out of grooming your dog. Set aside time every day to brush your Pomeranian. Sit the dog in your lap and gently brush its fur with a slicker brush. Talk to the dog and pet it during the brushing. Simple grooming helps build trust between you and the dog. Keeping the dog on your lap while brushing it lets you get close to the dog and keep it calm.

    Walking and Playing

    • Take your Pomeranian out to a dog park or on daily walks. Not only does this help socialize your dog but it excites it. When you take your dog out on a walk or to the park, it shows the dog that you want it to go with you. Use this time to talk to your dog and play with it. Play with chew toys or throw a ball for your Pomeranian. Pet your dog while playing. Praise your dog in public when it listens to you.

    Training

    • Training offers you an opportunity to bond with your Pomeranian. During this time, your dog learns what is right and what is wrong. Your dog also learns what makes you happy and what makes you upset. You must train your Pomeranian in a gentle manner. Yelling or hitting the dog will not train it. Reprimanding your dog in a gentle but firm tone alerts the dog that you are not happy; it does not ruin the bond formed between the two of you.
