How to Hook a Tag to a Dog Collar

That is why so many dog owners choose to place a tag on their dog̵7;s collar. The tag includes the dog̵7;s personal information, which is useful should the dog ever become lost. The dog̵7;s name and your contact information makes it possible for a kind stranger to contact you when your dog is found. In addition, other tags are also available for dog collars. Some are purely for decoration while others state health information. To ensure your dog is as safe as possible if he becomes lost, learn to properly fasten a tag to his collar.

Instructions

  1. S Hooks

    • 1

Obtain an ̶0;S̶1; hook. You can get one from hardware stores, home improvement stores and retailers such as Walmart or Target. Place the dog tag around one end of the ̶0;S̶1; by hooking the ̶0;S̶1; through the hole in the tag.

    • 2

Use a pair of pliers to close the ̶0;S̶1; around the tag hole. Close the end of the ̶0;S̶1; as tightly as possible to ensure that it does not leave space where the tag could fall off of the hook.

    • 3

Connect the opposite side of the ̶0;S̶1; to the loop on the dog collar. Use your pliers to close the ̶0;S̶1; around the collar loop. You can now place the collar complete with its new tag onto your dog̵7;s neck.

    O Ring

    • 4

Obtain an ̶0;O̶1; ring to affix your dog̵7;s tag to its collar. ̶0;O̶1; rings are smaller versions of key ring hooks.

    • 5

Place your thumbnail between the metal pieces of the ̶0;O̶1; ring and pry the two pieces apart enough to slide the tag through.

    • 6

Hold the two pieces of the ̶0;O̶1; ring apart with your thumbnail and slide the ring of the collar and the hole of the tag around the open end of the metal portion of the ̶0;O̶1; ring. Continue to slide the pieces through the "O" ring or hold the tag and collar and rotate the "O" ring until the tag and collar are secure.
