Things You'll Need
- Pet ID tag (available at pet stores or from online retailers)
Instructions
Select a pet ID tag that is made from durable material such as steel or other metal, and one that will be engraved with your information.
Ensure that your selected pet ID tag is not too small to contain all of your contact information. Also make sure the tag is not too large to fit on the collar of smaller animals, such as kittens or smaller dog breeds.
When choosing what contact information to include, you have several options. Some people prefer not to list their full names or addresses, while others do. A phone number is the most common contact information included on a pet ID tag.
If your pet has any special medical conditions, be sure to include them on the ID tag. For example, include "deaf" or "blind" if your pet suffers from these ailments. Abbreviations are acceptable as long as the casual reader can understand them.
Ensure that your pet's new ID tag attaches securely to your pet's collar so that it will not fall off. Also ensure that it does not hinder your pet's ability to eat and drink, and does not affect your pet's mobility in any way.
