How to Make a Pet Diaper

While most people associate diapers with babies, there often comes a time when pets and their owners can benefit from placing a diaper on their furry friends as well. Female pets that are in heat or pets of either sex that have developed incontinence problems can create quite a mess on carpets, floors, furniture and bedclothes. To keep your house tidy during pet problems, you can make your own custom pet diapers at home.

Instructions

  1. Modify a Disposable Diaper

    • 1

Measure your pet's waist with a tape measure and record the circumference.

    • 2

Purchase a pack of disposable baby diapers in the appropriate size. The measurement of the waist circumference range is typically on the package to help you attain the proper fit.

    • 3

Place the diaper on your pet without pulling the tape off of the tabs to get an idea of the fit. Notice at what point the tail is, and make a mark on the diaper with a magic marker.

    • 4

Fold the diaper in half at the point where you made the mark with the magic marker. Use a pair of scissors to cut a hole of the appropriate size for your pet's tail.

Boy's Fly-front Briefs and Feminine Napkins

    • 5

Measure your pet's waist with a tape measure and record how many inches it is.

    • 6

Purchase a package of little boy's brief underwear with the fly-front opening in the appropriate size.

    • 7

Purchase a package of self-adhering feminine napkins in the appropriate size and thickness for your pet's situation -- thinner for pets in heat and thicker for incontinence problems.

    • 8

Remove the paper tape on the feminine napkin and adhere it to the rear part of the briefs.

    • 9

Place the briefs on your pet backwards, pulling the tail through the opening in the fly.
