Things You'll Need
- Spray bottle
- Fabric softener
- Shipping tape
- Rag
- Rubber glove
- Hand vacuum
Instructions
Fill an empty spray bottle with half water and half fabric softener. Spray the mixture over furniture with pet hair on it prior to attempting to remove the hair. The fabric softener loosens the hair's hold on the fabric and allows for significantly easier removal.
Wrap your hand with shipping tape, sticky side out. Press the shipping tape against the furniture with the loosened pet hair on it. The shipping tape will begin to pick up the hair. Once the tape is completely covered and no stickiness remains, wrap a fresh piece of tape around your hand and resume.
Soak a rag in water and scrub the fabric vigorously. The dampness of the rag will attract hair and pull it from the furniture. Once the rag gets too hairy, rinse it thoroughly and resume until all (or most) of the pet hair is eliminated.
Put a rubber glove on and run your hand over the furniture. The rubber will form a static charge that will draw the pet hair. Clean the glove off when it gets too hairy, and continue until the hair is gone.
Use a hand vacuum designed to pick up pet hair. Hand vacuums are particularly effective when coupled with other methods, especially the fabric softener spray. The high powered suction removes the loosened pet hair quickly and easily. Clean the filter regularly for maximum suction.
