Keep your cool. Speak with a natural tone and display confidence in your body gestures to calm your nervous dog. Your pet's world revolves around you; you give them food, water and love. Your pet may only need reassurance from you that everything is alright, but be careful that your tone is not mistaken for praise.
Soothe your anxious dog with chamomile. A mixture of chamomile and other soothing herbs, such as valerian, can relieve the anxieties of your pet. Consult with your veterinarian before using chamomile. Your vet may offer a preferred chamomile supplement or chamomile may not be right for your breed.
Relax your nervous dog with classical music. Playing low classical music can level out the mood of your overactive pet. Try different artist and genres to see if your pet has a preference. Keep in mind the sensitivity of your pet's ears when playing the music. They will enjoy the music at a lower volume than you.
Soothe away the stresses of your nervous dog with a therapeutic massage. Lower the noise levels in your environment and light a candle or some incense. Try out different techniques and places on your dog to massage; your dog's chest and back are surefire areas that will relax your dog every time. Look for signs such as the dog frowning or edging away to tell if your dog is enjoying itself or not. Signs such as relaxed muscles and eased breathing indicate a content pet.
