Things You'll Need
- Strong cable
- Long lead line or leash
- Pulley or strong ring
- Eye hooks
- Turnbuckle
- Wire rope clips
- Or purchase a prepackaged kit, like Roccorp's Skyline Aerial Dog Run
Instructions
Thread the cable through the pulley or ring, allowing it to roll smoothly.
Attach the cable between two sturdy points. Use as many hooks as needed to ensure you securely attach the cable. Your best choices are to run the cable between two trees or a tree to a post or the side of your house. Run the cable through the air or along the ground. Most people choose the aerial version so there is no worry about tripping over the cable.
Affix wire rope clips to any section of the cable from which you wish to deny your dog access. Do not allow your canine admittance to areas that could entangle him or where he could jump the fence, as this could potentially choke or hang him. Ensure the clamps are tight enough to not slide around.
Fasten the turnbuckle to the pulley or ring.
Hook the lead line or sturdy leash to the turnbuckle. This tether should be long enough to allow your canine to lie down comfortably and access shelter. Don't make it too long, however, as it can become tangled.
Strap your dog to the tether.
