Will dogs wander off to die?

There is no scientific consensus on whether or not dogs will wander off to die. Some people believe that dogs do this as a way to find a peaceful place to pass away, while others believe that dogs simply follow their instincts and do not understand death. There is some evidence to support the idea that dogs may leave their families and homes when they are ill or feeling vulnerable, but further research is needed to conclusively determine whether or not dogs will indeed wander off to die.
