What do the babies of pumas look like?
Puma cubs are called kittens and are born with a spotted coat that helps them camouflage in the wild. Their fur is gray or reddish-brown with black spots. They are also born with blue eyes that will change to a golden or greenish color as they grow older. Puma cubs are born weighing about 8 ounces and are about 10 inches long. They are helpless at birth and rely on their mother for food, warmth, and protection. Puma cubs stay with their mother for up to two years before they become independent.
