How good do dogs see in the dark?

Dogs do have better night vision that humans, but not as good as some other animals like cats. Dogs have a special layer of cells in their eyes called the tapetum lucidum, which reflects light back into the retina, amplifying it and helping them to see better in low-light conditions. Additionally, dogs have more rods in their retinas than humans, which are more sensitive to low levels of light. However, dogs cannot see in complete darkness and still require some light to see.
