When can guide dogs go home with their owners?

After extensive training, which can last up to two years, guide dogs are matched with suitable individuals who are visually impaired or blind. However, the process does not end there. Before guide dogs can go home with their owners, they undergo a final stage known as "home training." During this phase, which typically lasts two weeks, the prospective owner works closely with a trainer to learn the specific commands and techniques required for handling a guide dog. Only after successfully completing this home training can guide dogs officially go home with their new human companions.
