Puppy: Puppies should be fed three to four meals per day until they are about six months old. At this point, you can switch to two meals per day. The amount of food you should feed your puppy each day will depend on their weight:
* 2-4 weeks old: 1-2 tablespoons per meal
* 4-6 weeks old: 3-4 tablespoons per meal
* 6-8 weeks old: 1/4 cup per meal
* 8-12 weeks old: 1/3 cup per meal
* 12-16 weeks old: 1/2 cup per meal
Adult: Adult dogs should be fed two meals per day. The amount of food you should feed your dog each day will depend on their weight and activity level:
* Small breeds (less than 22 lbs): 1/4 to 1 cup of food per day
* Medium breeds (22-44 lbs): 1 to 1 3/4 cups of food per day
* Large breeds (over 44 lbs): 1 3/4 to 2 3/4 cups of food per day
Senior: Senior dogs may need to be fed more or less food than adult dogs, depending on their overall health. If your senior dog is overweight, talk to your veterinarian about reducing the amount of food you are feeding them.
It is important to note that the above guidelines are just that - guidelines. The best way to determine how much food to feed your dog is to talk to your veterinarian and monitor your dog's weight and overall health.
