I have four that come to visit me every evening for dog and cat food is left them but as of a few days ago they are not coming eat anymore. Do in Texas hibernate?

It's great you're taking care of these animals! However, raccoons do not hibernate. They may become less active in the winter, but they don't sleep for extended periods like bears.

Here are some possible reasons why they aren't coming to your porch anymore:

* Food Source: There could be other food sources readily available in your neighborhood, like garbage cans or bird feeders.

* Weather: Cold weather or even heavy rain could be keeping them away.

* Competition: Other raccoons may have moved into the area, creating more competition for the food.

* Fear: Something may have frightened them, like a loud noise or a new animal in the neighborhood.

* Something Else: They might be sick or injured.

What you can do:

* Continue offering food, but be sure to keep it in a raccoon-proof container. This will help prevent other animals from eating it.

* Check around your property for any signs of illness or injury.

* Observe your surroundings. Is there anything new that could be scaring them?

* Contact your local animal control or wildlife rehabilitation center. They may have some advice on how to help the raccoons.

Remember, it's important to be cautious when dealing with wild animals. Don't try to handle them yourself, as they can be dangerous.
