What food do the porcupine feed their young ones?

Porcupines are herbivores, meaning they eat plants! They don't actually feed their young directly with chewed-up food like some mammals do. Instead, baby porcupines (called "porcupettes") learn to eat on their own.

Here's what baby porcupines eat:

* Bark and twigs: This is a major part of their diet.

* Leaves, buds, and shoots: They'll snack on these too, especially during the growing season.

* Fruits and berries: They enjoy the occasional sweet treat.

* Roots and tubers: These provide important nutrients.

Baby porcupines start eating solid food within a few weeks of birth, and they fully wean from their mother's milk around three months old.
