What do you feed an emaciated dog?

Feed a small amount of easily digestible food frequently. Start by offering your dog small amounts of a bland, easily digestible diet every 2-3 hours. This could include cooked rice, chicken, or sweet potatoes. Avoid feeding your dog table scraps or fatty foods, as these can cause digestive upset.

Gradually increase the amount of food you offer. As your dog's appetite improves, you can gradually increase the amount of food you offer them at each meal. Be careful not to overfeed your dog, as this can lead to weight gain and other health problems.

Weigh your dog regularly to monitor their progress. Keep an eye on your dog's weight and adjust their food intake as needed. Your dog should gain weight slowly and steadily. If your dog is not gaining weight, you may need to increase the amount of food you are feeding them.

Offer your dog plenty of water. Make sure your dog has access to fresh water at all times. Dehydration can slow down the healing process.

Talk to your veterinarian. If you have any questions about feeding your emaciated dog, be sure to talk to your veterinarian.
