Why can dogs hear the dog whistle?

Dogs can hear the dog whistle because their hearing range is much wider than humans'.

Here's why:

* Humans: We can hear sounds between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz (20 kHz).

* Dogs: They can hear sounds between 40 Hz and 45,000 Hz (45 kHz).

This means dogs can hear sounds that are much higher in frequency than we can. Dog whistles produce sounds that are typically above 20 kHz, which is why we can't hear them but dogs can.

Here's a breakdown:

* High-pitched sounds: Dog whistles produce high-pitched sounds that fall within the dog's hearing range.

* Sensitivity: Dogs are much more sensitive to high-pitched sounds than humans.

* Evolution: Their hearing has evolved to help them communicate with each other and detect prey and predators.

While we can't hear dog whistles, our canine companions can easily hear them, allowing us to communicate with them in a way that's less distracting for other animals and humans.
