Instructions
Initiate the bonding process with your rottweiler as soon as it is brought home. Do not neglect this mandatory first step for beginning to build a positive relationship. Just like all other pets, rottweilers need to feel wanted and secure. Encourage a positive reaction to future dog training by bonding with it from the start of all interactions. Talk to the dog and touch the dog frequently in order to bond with it.
Teach the rottweiler its name. Call it by its name frequently in order to make sure that it can recognize and respond to it. Teach your rottweiler its name by calling your dog by its name and signaling with your body, facial expressions and words for the dog to come. Repeat this process many times. Give your rottweiler a small doggie treat and praise it verbally and physically when it comes when it is called by its name.
Create a daily exercise routine for your new rottweiler. Take it out to romp in the backyard for a few minutes or on a long walk around the block. Play Frisbee retrieval games with the puppy at the local park. These activities promote trust between the owner and the rottweiler and will help to establish a strong relationship with your new canine friend.
Teach basic commands to the rottweiler right away. Use commands such as ̶0;heal,̶1; ̶0;down̶1; and ̶0;sit.̶1; Rottweilers are intelligent dogs and will quickly learn such preliminary commands. Provide opportunities for the dog to learn in order to take advantage of its instinctive desire to learn. Teach your rottweiler what is right and what is wrong by teaching it to comply with commands.
Spend lots of time with the new puppy when it first comes home. This will cause it to feel that you care for it. A rottweiler accepts and develops respect for the person it spends the most time with. Continually expose the dog to people because it will enjoy being a part of the group. A rottweiler will associate the person who is with it the most as the leader of its pack. Take the lead when interacting with the rottweiler because it will naturally follow the person it sees as the leader of the pack.
