How to Get Rid of the Dog Pee Smell From Lawn Furniture

When you or your neighbor's dog marks or urinates on your outdoor lawn furniture, the smell is strong and lingers for a long time. If the urine is on the fabric cushions or mesh netting of the furniture, the urine sets in, lingering after basic washing. As frustrating as getting rid of pet odor is, instead of tossing your current lawn furniture and buying new pieces, save some money by using a few home treatment steps. After treating the furniture, the odor will be neutralized and the furniture is ready for odor-free use.

Instructions

    • 1

Soak up dog pee spots as soon as possible using a paper towel. Press against the area with dry paper towels until the towels come back mostly dry. Spray the furniture with a garden hose to dilute the urine. Blot the water up with more dry paper towels. Repeat the process until the liquid you absorb with the paper towel is no longer yellow.

Sprinkle the urine spot with baking soda. Leave the baking soda for 30 minutes to soak up the remaining moisture from the urine.

    • 3

Mix 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide and 1 tsp. liquid dish detergent in a small bowl. Pour the mixture onto the baking soda-covered urine spot. Scrub the mixture into the baking soda and the furniture using a toothbrush or scrub brush. Let the area dry overnight.

Rinse the baking soda mixture from the furniture using a garden hose.

Apply a commercial enzyme cleaner to the spot. Different products have different application directions, so follow the directions on the product you choose. Most require you to spray the cleaner directly on the surface, leaving it to sit for a period of time before blotting it up.
