How to Create a Canine Pedigree

Many different breeds of dogs exist, some worth thousands of dollars. In order to create a pedigree for your dog, according to Mans Best Friend, your dog must be "considered pureblooded or with two parents who also have pedigrees that are usually of the same breed." If your buyers plan on breeding, a pedigree will likely be required at time of purchase.

Instructions

Ask for a copy of his pedigree. If one is not available, ask breeder for specific information on the dog's lineage.

    • 3

Begin your dog's pedigree either using a word processing document or an online pedigree creating websites.

    • 4

Input your dog's name, the kennel she is from and continue with her parents, their parents -- just like a family tree. Be sure to notate which dogs, if any, were shown and received some type of award or recognition. This adds value to your pet.

Print your pedigree and have it available when you begin selling puppies as a result of breeding your dog.
