Things You'll Need
- Shovel
- Wooden post
- 40 pound bag concrete
- Garden hose
- Small stick
- Runner cable system
Instructions
Dig a hole between one and two feet below ground in which to stick your wooden post. It should be tall enough for people to be able to walk under it. It should also be heavy enough to withstand a dog's weight, especially with excessive use.
Set the post in the hole and pour about one-third of the bag of concrete into the hole. Have someone hold the post while you pour the concrete. Fill with water, and stir with a stick. You may want to put a few rocks in before pouring the concrete for more stability. Cover the hole with leftover dirt from the dug hole and wait 24 hours for it to completely dry.
Repeat for the second post, allowing enough distance for your dog to run freely in between posts.
Attach the cable on each post with steel eye hooks, and run the cable line through each hook. Attach the turnbuckle that came in the cable runner system to the line. Attach the tether line into the turnbuckle, while clipping the other end to your dog's collar. Be sure not to have the tether line too long, so it does not tangle.
