Chain Link Kennel Assembly Instructions

The purpose of assembling a link or chain link kennel is to prevent the dog from roaming the neighborhood. Chain link kennels involve rolling the chain link against anchored support posts, held together with chain link connectors. Chain link kennels are made of durable metal to keep the dog safely housed.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the area using a tape measure to determine the size of the kennel. Use flags to mark the four symmetrical sides of the kennel to form a square.

    • 2

Place a 6-foot long T-post at one of the positioned flags. Insert the post anchors in the ground, and then put the pole inside the anchor. The anchor has a spike at the bottom and a space where the pole fits at the top. The spike makes it easier to drive the pole into the ground. Use a sledgehammer to drive the T-post into the ground at a depth of 2 feet. Continue the process on the other three corners of the kennel.

    • 3

Lay the first chain link panel against the T-post. Attach the chain link panel to the T-post using chain link connectors. Roll out the chain link panel, and attach it to the second and third T-posts with chain link connectors.

    • 4

Attach the gate panel between the posts on the open side using the chain link connectors to fasten it in place. Make sure a gap exists at the bottom of the gate. This allows the door to swing open but not high enough for the dog to squeeze under it.
