Instructions
Fill out the Whatcom Humane Society volunteer application, which can be printed from the shelter's website or done in person at the shelter.
Attend a one-on-one meeting and orientation at your place of residence with a volunteer coordinator. You must either have your own home or written permission from your landlord. At this meeting the coordinator will assess you, your living environment and your ability to care for a foster dog.
Complete the foster volunteer orientation process and training to the satisfaction of the humane society supervisors within 60 days of signing up to be a foster parent.
Begin fostering once the humane society selects a compatible dog in need of a foster home.
