Apartment
-
An apartment is one housing option to consider when you have small pets that don't require a lot of physical exercise. Most complexes will require a pet deposit to cover any damages your animal might cause. Others may have a size limit on the type of dog or cat you may have while some may only allow caged pets such as birds, fish or rodents. Be sure to check with management and get the agreement in writing before you move in.
House
-
Renting a home with a fenced in back yard is always a good idea when you have pets. Be sure to check with each potential landlord to find out if pets are allowed. Some landlords may have restrictions such as no inside pets. They may also have restrictions on different breeds of dogs, and may not allow you to rent if you have a breed that is considered aggressive. Most landlords will also require a pet deposit to cover any damages such as digging or chewing that your pet may cause, even to the yard.
Mobile Home Park
-
A mobile home inside a mobile home park is another option to look at when trying to find a residence that will accept pets. Many RV parks or mobile home parks may also feature facilities such as pet parks or walking trails for pets. Some also have fenced-in yards. Check with the park manager of any park you are considering to find out if pets are accepted and what restrictions they have in place. Just as with apartments and houses, many of these facilities will ask for a pet deposit to cover any possible damages.
Extended Stay Hotels
-
Extended stay hotels and motels are establishments that rent rooms on a weekly, monthly and even yearly basis. All utilities are included in the fees and these types of rooms often include a small kitchenette, or microwaves and mini-refrigerators. Many of these facilities such as Extended Stay Hotels and Studio 6 Extended Stay also welcome pets for a small pet deposit, although restrictions may be placed on the size of the pet allowed.
