How to Create a Pet Sitting Flyer

Congratulations on starting your own business. You're combining your love of animals and your need to make an honest living, and pet sitting is the way you have chosen to do that. With the right skills and connections, you should be able to build a reputable business with repeat customers who trust you with their companion animals year after year. Furthermore, if you offer to provide some charitable services as well, you will also be able to market yourself to a wide variety of individuals. Create a beautiful, professional flyer to get the word out.

Instructions

    • 1

Research other pet-sitting services in your area to determine what prices you may charge. You do not want to undercut your competition, but you don't want to cheat yourself either. You will find that the others in your area who are pet sitting will become your closest allies as they refer clients to you that may be out of their territory, or if they are overbooked. So learn what the going rate is in your locale. Decide also on what species of animals you will care for. Once you have made all your business decisions, it's time to create your flyer.

    • 2

Create a headline with your pet-sitting services name. Center this on your flyer at the top using a large font. Use a catchy name like "Critter Sitter" or "Patty's Pets" or "Tender Loving Care." Underneath, centered, put a tagline such as "We care for your furbabies as if they were our own." Under that, insert a clip art or photograph of yourself with a dog or cat. A photograph adds visual interest, color and texture to your flyer.

    • 3

Add your phone number and website address if you have one. You should have a website or at least a social network page so that you can add all your information. On the flier, add your name, phone number(s) and the areas you cover. Insert another photo or clip art with a photo of a cat and/or parakeet.

Add any skills you may have that will help people feel comfortable leaving their companion animal with you. If you have worked as a veterinary technician, kennel worker or in a grooming shop, add that information on your flyer. If you have an arrangement with a veterinarian in your area, include that information as well so that people know that you will have any emergencies or problems covered.

    • 5

List all the animals for which you will be caring. If you are confining your services to dogs and/or cats, add that information on the flyer. If you have the skills and knowledge to care for horses, birds, rabbits, ferrets, snakes, other reptiles or other exotics, add them in as well.

    • 6

List any special services you offer, such as grooming, medicating sick pets, dog walking (as opposed to just releasing them in a fenced-in yard to do their business) or cat companion care (staying with a cat for more than just changing litter boxes and feeding).

Proofread your flyer to be sure you have everything spelled correctly and all your contact information on it. Bullet point your services and add a variety of fonts and colors for visual appeal. Perform a "print preview" to be sure the flyer is centered correctly on the page and then print your flyer out using your printer. Proofread again before making copies, so you can catch any errors.
