Wardrobes for Pets

Wardrobes for pets were once uncommon. As breeds and types of animals that originated in warm climates are taken to cold ones, they require extra heating to cope. The clothing worn by pets can vary in color and scope as well as size to suit the pet.
  1. Shirts

    • Shirts, ranging from polos to tank tops to long sleeve shirts, are an essential part of a pet's wardrobe. The shirts can be purchased in a variety of colors and greatly resemble human's own clothing. These shirts are generally pulled over the dogs head to wear and can be worn for extra heat underneath a jacket, jumper or sweater.

    Jackets/Jumpers

    • Jumpers, ranging from hoodies to sweaters, and jackets, from warm to waterproof, are a means of keeping an animal warm and dry both outside the home and inside. The jacket's coloring and patterns can be purchased to suit the sex of the pet or to match the owner's outfit. The outerwear can come with or without hoods and can pull on or have zippers or, more commonly, buttons along the underside of the coat.

    Shoes

    • Shoes for pets, more commonly called "booties," are the final touch to any wardrobe. These small shoes can come in a variety of materials and sizes to fit various sizes of paws. Booties are most often used to protect or warm a pet's feet when they are walking in colder weather. Socks can also accompany the paw coverings; however, they are more uncommon as booties are usually made from warm materials.

    Themes

    • Many pet owners do not have a wardrobe that is for all year for their pet but rather have outfits that are suited and worn on particular holidays. Christmas often means a satiny Santa outfit and even a small red cap. For Halloween, animals can be dressed in costumes, even one that matches their owner's. Shamrock jackets are sold for St. Patrick's day and can be accompanied by matching green booties.
