How to Clean an Igloo Dog House

Dog igloos are an ideal dog house choice for many different reasons. Not only are they durable, lightweight and designed to help keep your pet warm in the winter and cool in the summer, they also require minimal care to clean and maintain. Regularly cleaning your igloo dog house is important, not only because it will help extend the life of the structure, but to help prevent bacteria and parasites from taking up residence and posing a health risk to your dog.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any bedding, toys or other pet accessories from within the dog igloo.

    • 2

Sweep out the igloo to remove any dirt or dried feces that may be inside. Use the broom to sweep off the outside of the dog igloo as well.

    • 3

Spray the inside and outside of the igloo with a garden hose to dampen the structure.

    • 4

Apply a disinfectant cleaner to the entire structure of the dog house using a spray bottle, sponge or rag.

    • 5

Scrub the entire dog igloo with a stiff-bristled brush to remove dried-on dirt and feces. Pay careful attention to any interior corners or crevices, which are a magnet for parasites, pests and bacteria.

    • 6

Rinse the dog house thoroughly with the garden hose to remove all remaining debris and cleanser.

    • 7

Place the igloo in a sunny location to dry, or dry with towels before returning pet bedding to the igloo.
