How to Update an AVID Chip

An AVID, or American Veterinary Identification Devices, chip, is an electronic microchip tracking device for a pet, such as a cat or a dog. The AVID chip is placed under your pet's skin. The chip contains an identification number, and that number is entered into a database known as PETtrac, an AVID system that tracks your pet if your pet is lost or stolen. If you move to another location or need to make changes to your contact information, you can update an AVID chip by contacting AVID customer service.

      Call the 24-hour AVID customer service department at 800-336-2843 for the United States or 0800 652 8 977 for the United Kingdom.

      Press "5" on your keypad to speak with an AVID customer service representative to update an AVID chip.

      Speak to the customer service representative about what you need to update.

      Write down any information you receive from the customer service representative for future reference.
