    • The best boarding facilities will provide direct access to outdoor space via a private pen linked to each kennel. This reduces boredom for the dog. Top kennels will have first aid facilities onsite, food preparation areas and grooming equipment.

    Staff ratio

    • The best kennels have a high staff to dog ratio, meaning each dog gets more time and attention from the staff. Kennels that take in lots of dogs but do not provide adequate staffing should be avoided.
