Things You'll Need
- 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 8 oz. water
- Spray bottle
- 6 oz. vinegar
- 2 oz. lemon juice
- Coffee filters
- Rubbing alcohol
- Scissors
- 20 drops of eucalyptus oil
Instructions
Mix 1 tsp. cayenne pepper with 8 oz. water in a spray bottle. Spray your vegetable or flower gardens with this mixture to keep dogs away. Dog's sniff in these areas, and the cayenne pepper will irritate their noses and deter them from coming back in the future. Do not use more than 1 tsp. with every 8 oz. of water, though, or the cayenne pepper could hurt the dog, instead of just annoy it.
Mix 6 oz. of vinegar with 2 oz. of lemon juice in a spray bottle. Spray on your shoes, or any other item in the house that you do not want your dog to chew on. The vinegar and lemon juice odors are unpleasant to dogs, but are effective at eliminating strong odors in your shoes or other items.
Soak some coffee filters with rubbing alcohol. Set them out in the sun to dry. Cut them up and sprinkle them in the bottom of your trash can, and around the outdoor area where you keep your trash. This will repel dogs from getting into the trash and making a huge mess.
Place 20 drops of eucalyptus oil in 8 oz. of water in an empty spray bottle. Spray anywhere else in your house, or outdoors, where you want to repel dogs. Eucalyptus has a strong scent that a dog's sensitive nose doesn't like.
