Dog Show Events in North Carolina

Dog shows come in many varieties, among them competitions, agility demonstrations and training demonstrations. North Carolina has a number of dog show events each year. Among them are various American Kennel Club shows, including events sponsored by AKC clubs that hold shows for specific breeds.
  1. Charlotte Pet Expo

    • The 2010 Charlotte Pet Expo is the first in North Carolina, but the sponsoring company has organized annual Pet Expo events in other cities across the country. The Charlotte Pet Expo is held in Concord, about 25 miles from Charlotte. There are demonstrations by dog trainers, pet and human contests, stage performances and agility courses. A number of exhibitors offer products and services for sale. Pets are welcome to attend with their owners, provided the animals have up to date shots and and are leashed.

    Bark in the Park

    • The annual Bark in the Park happens every spring in Chimney Rock, North Carolina. The event promises agility demonstrations, information booths and a number of activities for dogs and their humans. Prizes are offered for some contests at the free event.

    North Carolina Wiener Roast

    • The North Carolina Wiener Roast raises money for dachshunds and dachshund rescue organizations. Events at the North Carolina Wiener Roast include races, costume shows and contests, demonstrations, a kissing contest, raffles and a picnic dinner. The event occurs at Castle McCulloch in Jamestown which offers both indoor and outdoor space.
