How to Build a Pit Bull Kennel
Using a measuring roller, determine precise dimensions of the entire space that the kennel will enclose. A good size for a kennel is 16 by 16 feet. This provides enough space for the dog house, which should be about 3 by 4 feet, and running area for your pit bull. The kennel should be about 25 to 30 feet away from your house.
Purchase heavy-duty chain-link fencing material that will withstand weather elements as well as abuse from your pit bull.
Dig deep holes and ruts for the fencing material. For the posts, use a post hole digger to make the holes about 2 feet deep and 4 inches wider than the posts. For the fence, use a trenching shovel to dig a rut that is about 4 inches wide and 6 inches deep.
Provide shade for your pit bull by covering the kennel with a polypropylene kennel cover that breathes easily. Kennel covers are readily available at pet stores and large department stores, such as Target and Wal-Mart.
Develop the pit bull's kennel on the highest ground of your property. This allows rainfall to drain from the kennel to prevent the ground from becoming too muddy after storms.
