How to Remove Dog Urine Stains From Wool Carpets

The general method of removing pet stains from carpet is to start spraying whatever chemical happens to be lying around under the sink, followed by rubbing vigorously until the stain is gone. Unfortunately, that may be damaging when it comes to wool carpet. Fortunately the strategy for wool is a simple one and similar to the typical cleaning method used for other materials; Take a few precautions, however, to avoid damaging your carpet.

  1. Removing Immediate Stains

Lightly pat the stained area with a paper towel. Avoid scrubbing, which may break apart the towel in your carpet. You may also use a cloth you don't care about if you don't want to go through a lot of paper products.

    • 2

Use a wool-safe carpet cleaner. These are available in stores and usually advertise themselves as "wool-safe." Most organic cleaners are safe for wool. Spray or drip some of the cleaner onto the stain. Lay a couple paper towels (or your cloth) down on the area.

    • 3

Remove the paper towel as necessary until the spot is dry. The cleaner should break up the stain as the paper towel absorbs it.

    • 4

Some scrubbing may be necessary if you did not catch the stain fast enough. Carefully rub a cloth back and forth over the formerly stained area. Avoid pushing too hard or rubbing too quickly.
