Instructions

    • 1

Rinse the area with water or club soda. Soak the stain and the area surrounding the stain with a sponge. This dilutes the urine, allowing for an easier removal process.

    • 2

Do not rub the rug. This damages it. Blot the rug to remove the watered-down urine instead. Repeat the process of rinsing and blotting, diluting the urine more effectively. The more urine removed before the cleanser is applied, the easier it will be to remove.

    • 3

Apply a commercial pet stain neutralizer and remover. Allow it to soak in for about 15 to 20 minutes. Blot any excess with another clean towel. Clean beneath the rug if you can pull the rug back to ensure the area is completely urine and odor free.

    • 4

Using a vacuum or a steam cleaner, vacuum over the area, permitting for a deeper cleaning. Repeat the above steps if some of the stain still remains. Finish the process by vacuuming or steam cleaning again.

    • 5

Allow the area to dry. Keep the dog away from the rug, as it will smell the urine while it is still wet. If the dog urinates in the same spot or the stain reappears, use the same steps for the removal process.
