  1. How to Clean a Kennel of Urine Odor

    • 1

Pick up feces. Use a pooper scoop to scoop away all solid waste. There's no way you can freshen the kennel without doing this first.

    • 2

Soap and rinse the kennel. If the kennel is on concrete or crushed gravel, use soap and water to clean the flooring and rinse well with water. Be sure the soap and water drains.

    • 3

Spray enzymatic cleaner on the floor and let dry. Enzymatic cleaner is a type of cleaner made to break down urine and feces smells.

    • 4

Dust the area with Sweet PDZ. If the kennel flooring is dirt or if the urine tends to puddle, putting down granular Sweet PDZ for horse stalls also works remarkably well for kennel smells.

    • 5

Layer pine shavings on top of Sweet PDZ. This will provide a nice smelling base that is also comfy for your dog to walk and lay on.
