How to Clean Dog Vomit on Carpet

Fortunately, there are a few tricks to apply in order to get your carpet back to its former self. The key is to clean the mess up as soon as it happens and scrub the area very well. Instructions

    • 1

Gently lift the large pieces of dog vomit off the carpet with a paper towel or cloth. Make sure you don't push down while doing so because it will press the vomit into the carpet. Discard the paper towels or remove the vomit from your cloth and wash it thoroughly.

    • 2

Pour warm water over the area making sure to cover it completely.

    • 3

Sprinkle enough salt or baking soda (either will work) over the area to cover it completely. You do not want to have a thick pile of it, but the affected area of carpet should be coated well.

    • 4

Place another dampened paper towel or towel over the area and leave it for two to three hours. During this time, the water and salt (or baking soda) will work to break up the remaining vomit on the carpet.

    • 5

Vacuum or scrub the area with a sponge once it has dried.

    • 6

Repeat this process if you notice there is still vomit on the carpet. If that still doesn't work, pour club soda (carbonated water) over the area and blot with paper towels.
