Food Ideas for a Puppy Party

Puppies are cute and adorable and deserve a lot of attention. On your puppy's birthday, shower her with a puppy-perfect party and plenty of delicious treats. Incorporate puppy-appropriate foods with creativity to ensure your party is a hit.
  1. Prohibited Foods

    • Avoid foods that are dangerous for puppies. Certain foods are toxic or dangerous because they can obstruct the intestines or cause other major medical issues. Among these are chocolate, grapes, raisins, spoiled food, baby food, cooked meat, tea, coffee, macadamia nuts, alcohol, raw eggs, onions, garlic and bread dough. Always talk with your veterinarian if you think your dog ingested a poisonous product.

    Cake

    • Use ingredients that are safe for your puppy and his party guests. Examples of puppy-appropriate ingredients are carrots, green beans, peanut butter, eggs, flour, yogurt, bacon and carob. Carob is a safe chocolate alternative for puppies. Make a cake that is shaped like a cat's face or your puppy's favorite chew toy. After the puppy cake has been baked and cooled, use yogurt as a topping. Try mixing peanut butter and yogurt together. Sprinkle crumbs of the puppy's kibble or bacon on top for added flavor.

    Ice Cream

    • Ice cream and cake always go hand in hand at parties. Most grocery and pet stores sell puppy-approved ice cream in various flavors. You can also make puppy ice cream at home. Make vanilla yogurt the base ingredient. Yogurt freezes well and is typically low in fat. Mix in fruits and vegetables for added nutrition and flavor. You can also freeze the icing you make for the puppy cake to create a delicious ice cream.

    Puppy Bags

    • Provide a puppy bag for each party guest. This would be similar to a party favor bag at a child's birthday party. Mix and match treats that make your puppy drool. Try adding a variety of store-bought dog treats, puppy kibble, dental treats and breath mints. Make bags that are appropriate for the different weights of the other puppies who will be at the party.

    Beverages

    • Be sure to provide plenty of fresh water for the puppies. If the party is held during the summer, put out a bowl of ice cubes. Flavor the ice cubes with yogurt, beef or chicken stock, kibble juice, or fruit juice. Be sure to check the ingredients on these products for dangerous foods. To make kibble juice, pour water into a bowl with your puppy's kibble. After 10 to to 15 minutes, drain the water. You can freeze the water into ice cubes or put in a separate bowl for drinking.
