The Formula
-
Start with a clean spray bottle. Remnants of chemicals may be hiding somewhere inside a bottle that used to house other chemical cleaners, which can be hazardous for your wood floors. Combine equal parts Listerine and water and shake well to mix thoroughly. Optionally, you can also add in a tablespoon of lemon juice.
The Procedure
-
Work in one area at a time, blocking off the spots. Puppy may get into the solution. Not only will your floors not get the treatment they deserve, but puppy may have a sick stomach. Spray the solution on the spot and allow to sit for ten to fifteen minutes. The alcohol in the Listerine should cleanse the spot of any bacteria causing the odor. Lemon juice will add a fresh, clean scent. Wipe up all solution with a clean towel and dry your floors thoroughly.
If the odor is still lingering, spray the spot again. Leave the solution for ten minutes. Again, wipe up all solution with a clean, dry towel.
Cleaning
-
Your floor may be a bit sticky after the solution has been cleaned up. Since you have not sanded the floor or removed any varnish, the spot is safe to clean as usual.
