Instructions

    • 1

Choose a sock with some style or pattern to it for your pants. It should be a sock size that will be snug fitting to your dog without being too tight.

    • 2

Cut off the sock just above the heel, in the ankle area. Throw away the top of the sock. Turn the sock inside out.

    • 3

Flatten out your sock, squaring the toe. Put your scissors 1 inch up from the end of the toe, and cut across the sock's width. You're cutting off the toe portion of the sock. Throw away toe portion.

    • 4

Put your scissors at the open toe of the sock, in the center. Holding both front and back of the sock together, cut straight up the sock, stopping 1 inch before the heel area. Your sock now has two strips on either side. These are the legs of your pants.

    • 5

Start sewing the inseam of the pants by starting from the inner edge of the bottom of one pants leg and sewing up, around and finishing back down at the bottom of the other pants leg.

    • 6

Turn your sock inside out. Try your pants on your dog. You may have to roll the top of the sock down to make a firm waistband. Check the length of the pants on your dog's legs, and tuck the ends of the pant legs up inside the pants until they are the length you need. Pin if desired. Use a marker to draw a small circle where you want to cut a tail hole.

Remove pants from dog. Use your scissors to cut the hole for the tail. Then turn the pants carefully inside out and sew the hem on each pants leg to the necessary length. You can also sew a little hem around the tail hole for neatness. Turn the pants right-side out. Your pants are done!
