How to Decorate Dog Cakes

Dogs have birthdays just like all of us. Dogs should be celebrated occasionally as well. You can create birthday cakes for dogs using things like flour, margarine, baking powder, corn oil, and tasty treats like bacon, peanut butter, carrots, baby food (that does not contain onion powder), vanilla, and bananas. Even the decorations can be edible. Decorating the cake is the most interesting part and requires a little bit of creativity.

Instructions

    • 1

Make your dog cake using a recipe from Party-Photo-Favors.com (see resources).

    • 2

Allow the cake to sit and cool for about 10 to 15 minutes.

    • 3

Frost the cake by using peanut butter or cream cheese. Add color to the frosting by using a drop or two of food coloring.

    • 4

Open a Ziploc bag and pour in the colored frosting that you wish to use to write or create images with. Use more than one bag for different colors if needed.

    • 5

Release all of the air from the bag and seal it.

    • 6

Snip a tiny hole in one of the bottom corners of the bag. If you wish for a thicker spread, cut the hole a little larger. Usually a small snip is best for writing words such as "Happy Birthday" whereas larger holes are better for creating designs like balloons or dog bones.

    • 7

Add more decorations to the cake like dog bones, bacon strips, shredded carrots, or shredded cheese.

    • 8

Place pretzels on the cake to resemble candles.

    • 9

Serve the cake to your dog.
