Things You'll Need
- 1 goose-neck table lamp (or other small lamp)
- 1 tbsp. liquid dish washing soap
- 1 small bowl 6 to 8 inches in diameter
Instructions
Locate areas of likely flea infestation, including pet beds, pet blankets or carpets, rugs and furniture pets use frequently.
Fill the small bowl with water to within 1/4 inch of the top. Add 1 tbsp. of liquid dish washing detergent. Stir the detergent until mixed in the water.
Place the bowl in the center of one of the target areas of flea infestation.
Place a goose-neck lamp beside the bowl. Position the lightbulb directly over the center of the bowl.
At bedtime, turn the goose-neck light on and leave it on overnight.
Inspect the bowl's contents the next morning. If fleas were present in the target area, they will have been attracted by the light, fallen into the bowl and been trapped by the detergent. If no fleas are present in the bowl, move the setup to a new location.
If fleas are trapped in the bowl, change the water and liquid soap daily.
Keep the bowl and light in the same location until you no longer notice fleas in the bowl. Move the flea trap to a new location and repeat the process.
