How to Register a Dog With the Continental Kennel Club

The Continental Kennel Club, or CKC, is a dog registry that registers pure bred dogs and some mixed breed dogs. It is possible to register a dog through CKC if the parents were both unregistered, as long as you know three generations of the dog's pedigree.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Continental Kennel Club website (see Resources) and print an application for registration. Pick a litter registration or single dog registration. Read over the CKC rules for registration to answer any questions you have about registering a dog or litter with CKC.

    • 2

Fill out the form completely. CKC will return incomplete forms. If both parents were registered with CKC, you simply fill out the information including the parent's CKC numbers.

    • 3

Know that you can register a dog at any age if its parents were both registered with another kennel club. You have to make a copy of the registration certificate and three generation pedigree for both the sire and the dam and send these in with the application.

    • 4

Take the required pictures of your dog. If neither of the dog's parents are registered, you have to have two pictures of the dog, a front shot and a side shot.

    • 5

Gather all of the required documents, payment method and photos and put them in an envelope to mail to CKC.

    • 6

Mail the envelope certified or return receipt requested. This will give you proof of when CKC got the application.
