Instructions
Ensure Hawaii will accept your pet. Some pets prohibited from Hawaii are non-domestic dogs, cats, hybrids, wolf crosses and dingoes.
Determine if your pet qualifies for a 120-day or a 5-day quarantine. Certain prerequisites allow for your pet's immediate release.
Qualify your pet for a 5-day quarantine or immediate release by using the checklist on the Hawaii government website. A pet must have had 2 rabies shots in their lifetime, more than 90 days apart. They must be microchipped, have an OIE-RAVN Rabies blood test performed, not less than 120 days before arrival. Also, the Hawaii Animal Quarantine Station must receive the proper paperwork for your pet.
Make arrangements for your pet if they need to be quarantine for 120 days. They need a health certificate, microchip, vaccinations and registration at a veterinarian hospital approved for medical treatment. There will also be a fee.
Visit your pet. There are visiting hours posted in the brochure and the quarantine facility. You are responsible for your pet's grooming and health care. You can check for fleas and ticks and administer medication during these visiting hours.
