1. Epithelial tissue:
- Lines the surfaces of organs and cavities in contact with the external environment.
- Examples: skin, mucous membranes, glands.
2. Connective tissue:
- Supports, connects, and protects other tissues and organs.
- Examples: bone, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, blood, adipose tissue.
3. Muscle tissue:
- Responsible for movement and contraction.
- Examples: skeletal muscle, smooth muscle, cardiac muscle.
4. Nervous tissue:
- Conducts electrical signals for communication between different parts of the body.
- Examples: neurons, glial cells.
5. Vascular tissue:
- Transports fluids and nutrients throughout the body.
- Examples: blood vessels (arteries, veins, capillaries), lymphatic vessels.
These are the four primary tissue types in the body. Each tissue type consists of specialized cells that perform specific functions.
