How to Hold a Koala

Koalas are arboreal marsupials native to Australia. These exotic animals are not allowed as pets without special permits, so the best place to hold a koala is at your local zoo, assuming it's allowed. Koalas are peaceful animals; they generally don't mind being held for a short time, although you shouldn't attempt to do so without the assistance of a trained handler. Cuddling with a gentle koala as it hugs you in return makes an excellent photo opportunity and a lasting memory.

Instructions

    • 1

Scoop the koala from its perch by its forearms or shoulders, or under its armpits. This helps to ensure that its sharp climbing claws don't accidentally scratch you.

    • 2

Quickly but gently pull the koala to your chest with its head facing over your shoulder.

    • 3

Support the animal by positioning your arms and hands under its bottom.
