Instructions
Purchase mink food from specialty providers or make your own. Mink food is made of fish, poultry or a combination of both. They should not be fed pork. The food should be minced and wet. To get the food wet, mix it with water or milk until it is thick and pasty. Store any leftover mink food in the refrigerator.
Minks need drinking water as well. Provide your mink with constant access to a water bowl, making sure that the mink can reach the water whenever it wants to. Change the water frequently, as your mink may enjoy playing in it and may dirty it rather quickly.
Feed your mink the wet food once or twice a day, depending on your pet's particular dietary needs. Minks generally know how much to eat instinctively and you may be able to leave the food out until your mink is finished eating it. Minks should generally be fed 1/4 pound of food a day; the ratio of fish to poultry is up to you.
Feed your mink cat treats for snacks if you desire. If your mink is not eating all of its food during feedings, consider cutting back on the amount of treats that you give it. Treats are not as nutritionally packed as mink food, and if you pet is filling up on treats it may become deficient or unhealthy.
Separate minks while feeding them if you have more than one. Minks' diets are very important, and to be sure that each of your pets is getting the nutritional value that it needs, you need to be able to monitor how much each mink eats during each feeding.
