Sugar Gliders
-
Sugar gliders, sometimes called sugar bears, are Australian marsupials that are kept as pets and are classified as a common household pet in most states. Sugar glider breeders are regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Though sugar glider breeders are common, they are unfortunately often taken from the wild and sold on the black market. The sugar glider's small size, affectionate personality, huge adorable eyes and exceptional ability to fly or glide through the air using a membrane called a patagium that extends from the animal's front digit to hind toe make the animal attractive as a pet.
