Things You'll Need
- Water
- Stove
- Pot
- Sugar
- Feeder
Instructions
Boil as much water as you want to put into the bird feeder. Use the stove or microwave. It is not necessary to have enough water to fill the feeder all the way since the nectar will eventually spoil if left out too long.
Add sugar to the boiling water. Add a fourth of a cup of sugar for every cup of water and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Let the sugar water cool off in your fridge or just at room temperature. When the nectar is cool, put it into the hummingbird feeder.
Replace the nectar in the feeder every two days or less, depending on the heat outside. If the nectar is cloudy, it has spoiled and should be replaced. Clean the feeder with soap and water thoroughly each time your replace the nectar.
