How to Feed New Born Baby Moles

Like many living creatures, newborn moles are helpless when they first come into the world. They don't have eyesight or fur immediately. Baby moles live with their mothers for one month after they are born, feeding on their mother's milk. Because moles are wild animals that are completely out of their element above ground, you should immediately call a wildlife specialist to take the mole into protective custody. However, you will need to keep the mole alive and warm until the wildlife specialist gets to your location. Thus feeding the newborn moles is extremely important.

Instructions

    • 1

Procure a formula for newborn mammals at the pet store. Appropriate brands are KMR powder, Multi-milk, VPL Nurturall Milk Replacer Powder.

    • 2

Prepare the solution according to the package's instructions in a small bowl. Make sure you mix it with water that is at room temperature or body temperature.

    • 3

Insert an eyedropper into the solution and allow it to suck up the milk. Hold the mole in your other hand. Bring the eyedropper close to the mole's mouth. At this point, some moles will instinctively open their mouths.

    • 4

Open the mole's mouth gently using the thumb of the hand that is holding the mole. Insert the tip of the eyedropper into the mole's mouth. Squeeze the rubber end of the eyedropper, shooting the contents into the mouth of the mole.

    • 5

Remove the eyedropper from the mouth of the mole and allow its mouth to close. It will swallow all the milk.

    • 6

Give the mole two full amounts of milk from the eyedropper per 4 ounces of body weight that it has, every two to three hours, unless otherwise stated on the package directions.
