Homemade Deer Hunting Scents

Many individuals take advantage of deer hunting season to catch a deer for food for the winter. These individuals know that deer have an incredible sense of smell. The deer can smell the hunter and will not come within shooting range. The hunter can, however, use a covering scent so that the deer do not detect him. You can purchase a covering scent, or make one yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the hydrogen peroxide, water, baking soda, and shampoo in a bowl and mix them together. Make sure you break up any clumps of baking soda that you see.

    • 2

Pour the mixture in to an empty gallon jug and top with the lid. The lid needs to be on loose so that the gasses inside of the milk jug can get out. Let it sit for a total of three days.

    • 3

Transfer the liquid to an empty spray bottle. You can either spray this on yourself when you are ready to go hunting, or spray it on some paper towels and wipe yourself down with them.
