How to Take Care of Lady Bugs

Lady bugs are small round insects that have red bodies with black spots. They go through three stages in life, just like any other insect. They go through the larval stage, the adolescent stage, and the adult stage of life. Until they hit the adult stage, they look nothing like lady bugs. Lady bugs do not build their own homes, they simply live where there are other colonies of insects or the insect population is high, such as in gardens, crop fields, and yards.

Instructions

    • 1

Feed the ladybugs aphids after they eat the shells they hatched from. If you have baby ladybugs, they will be extremely small and should be given small aphids. Aphids can be found on leaves outside.

    • 2

Spray the lady bugs lightly with a misting water a few days after hatching. This will provide the water that they need to remain active and hydrated. Before they are a few days old, they will get all the water they need from the aphids they eat.

    • 3

Be very careful right after the ladybugs shed into their adult stage. They are very vulnerable and should not be touched until their new shells are dried. This can take up to 24 hours or longer. You will know that the shells have dried when they begin to become more active.
